PRESS

From The Desk Of Nancy Krasne, Former Mayor – Beverly Hills

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

It is my honor to wholeheartedly endorse Roger Tanenbaum for the Beverly Hills City Council.

I have known Roger and his family for as long as I can remember. His father, Robert K. Tanenbaum—who served two terms as Mayor—mentored him, and his family has contributed more than 80 years of civic leadership to our community.

Roger’s strong and diverse educational background serves him well: he holds a Juris Doctor from Pepperdine Caruso School of Law and a BBS from Loyola Marymount University.

Here are just a few reasons I am proud to support Roger Tanenbaum for Beverly Hills City Council:

1. He has been walking our neighborhoods every single day for the past four months, knocking on doors, listening to residents, and working to understand and address our concerns.

2. He is a visionary—hardworking, dedicated, and proactive. Roger will use his passion for our city, along with his engaging personality and leadership abilities, to collaborate with leaders from neighboring cities. Together, they will advocate in Sacramento and work to roll back the deeply intrusive State Housing Mandates and Builder’s Remedy.

3. His exceptional people skills inspire trust and participation. Roger will build a strong, inclusive advisory board representing voices from across our city, ensuring that community input guides and strengthens his efforts.

4. He is ready to do the hard work. Roger will take initiative in addressing our projected $22.5 million deficit. Having almost entirely self‑funded his campaign, he understands the value of every taxpayer dollar and the serious fiduciary responsibility of a council member.

5. He takes our safety personally. While he applauds our city’s remarkable police technology, he also recognizes that it cannot replace the invaluable physical presence—boots on the ground.

6. At 46, he represents the right generation to lead Beverly Hills into the future, bringing energy, experience, and long-term commitment to our city’s next chapter.

Respectfully,
Nancy Krasne, Former Mayor – Beverly Hills

There is something magical to have people who are eager to serve. True, some are simply uber-rich and super-bored and others like the glitz, title and aura of being very important. There are lawyers looking for future clients and others who spread a wide net. Then, every once in a while, an extraordinary individual stands out above all others.

In the case of Beverly Hills, for almost half the City’s life, I have seen both women and men commit themselves, get elected and serve us faithfully. To me, the most extraordinary among them is Mark Egerman, who is now 83. A new generation has risen, and another promising one is Roger Tanenbaum, son of the late Mayor Robert “Bob” Tanenbaum.

Young Tanenbaum has a secret weapon and has proven himself to be worthy of respect unlike any other. Roger resolutely moved to the podium to defend his late father, when a councilmember attacked him most viciously (and cowardly). This act of respecting one’s parents as we are commanded in the Bible, and standing up to fight for what is right, in front of a room-full-to-capacity with strangers who said not a word, is inspirational. Those of us who saw the 1981 film The Wave while at Beverly might understand why.  A son of Holocaust Survivors, I definitely do. Roger’s devotion, courage and action were so unique that in Jerusalem, Israel, Yad VaShem recognizes those very few who, likewise, eighty years earlier stood up and took action during the Holocaust when no one else did. They are known as Righteous Gentiles Among the Nations.

As an officer in the Israel Defense Forces, if I learned anything it is the ability to recognize someone I can trust to fight alongside me in the trenches at war. I would be honored to serve alongside Roger Tanenbaum in the military when lives are at stake, let alone in politics.

I hope that others will see in him what I see. He comes from a home where from childhood he absorbed leadership, values, daring and audacity, standing your ground for the sake of others, and care for others. He does not need any receipt that other politicians so easily hand out without any coverage. He also does not require any recipe — it comes naturally to him. With him it is real. With him it is in the blood, from childhood.

Shabbat Shalom, and remember to vote!

My Pledge To You…For Beverly Hills

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

It has been my pleasure to walk our neighborhoods each day and speak with so many of you. Again and again, the same concerns arise: safety and the threat of overdevelopment. With the State Housing Mandates and Builder’s Remedy, we face real challenges—but also an opportunity.

Pledge #1: I will proactively work with other communities to lobby Sacramento to roll back the State’s deeply troubling mandates.

Pledge #2: There’s a $22.4 million dollar projected deficit. I take this very seriously and will be a vigilant custodian of your tax payer dollars.

Pledge #3: I am dedicated to leading with integrity and committed to doing the right thing!

Eighty years of family civic leadership grounds me in service, safety, a residents‑first approach, and growth that aligns with Beverly Hills’ vision and character.

Fresh and younger voices are needed. I am ready to protect, to serve, and to lead our city into a vibrant future.

I respectfully ask for your vote.

Protecting Beverly Hills With Connection, Service, Accountability, and Heart.

My family has been engaged in Beverly Hills civic life for nearly 80 years. My grandparents settled here in the 40’s and were community leaders. I am proud to represent the third generation. Many of you knew my father, Robert K. Tanenbaum, two term mayor. My family has shaped me into someone who deeply values community, responsibility and integrity. Today our city stands at a crossroads. I will be a vigilant watch dog and guardian of institutions we hold dear-fire, police, schools and residential quality of life. These were the values of my father. They are mine, as well.

This job requires a person who understands who he is and comes to the job with a strong moral compass so decisions are made in a balanced way, in a way that honors the long traditions and values of the community we so love, Beverly Hills. Safety is the primary responsibility of elected officials. Civility encourages open and collaborative discussion and personal accessibility invites accountability. To me, these are important cornerstones of strong leadership.

My pledge—Protecting Beverly Hills with Connection, Service, Accountability and Heart… it would be my honor to represent you.

A Man for Others — Proactive, Hands on, Results Oriented…

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

I am often asked about the State Housing Mandates and the Builder’s Remedy. I am a people person and a gatherer of information, so my decisions are based on solid well-grounded understanding. If I had been on the Council, I would have done all in my power to have stayed ahead of such issues, to ensure our city would have acted proactively and more effectively. I am deeply troubled that our City fell out of compliance resulting in punitive action—the Builder’s Remedy.

As I’m doing throughout my campaign, I walk our neighborhoods every day. Everyone is so welcoming. It has been my joy to meet with residents and small business owners, the heart and soul of Beverly Hills. I greatly value these voices.

Your input will be integral to my decision-making. This accountability will ensure better results. Had there been more resident involvement, I venture to say that we might not have fallen out of compliance and been faced with punitive action. You would have insisted on accountability.

I am available 24/7. Please email me with your issues and concerns. It would be my honor to serve you.
